Some of you have absolutely smashed your workouts this past week and I’m not gonna lie, we’re pretty impressed (In fact, we basically have a club full of Heat Ninjas on our hands right now! 🥷). And if you didn’t, well, no shade thrown (sorry I couldn’t resist 🫣); we completely understand and always encourage you to do what feels right in any extreme situation.

You may have seen pictures of us doing our workouts as normal and decided we had lost our minds but, hear me out on this one. Some of us have been working out consistently for YEARS, some of us are quite new but already very consistent, and we have a secret weapon.

While results vary from person to person one of the little-known benefits of a robust exercise habit IS improved body temperature regulation.

When you challenge your muscles through regular exercise, your body undergoes an incredible process called heat acclimatization. Your muscles release internal heat while working out and consistent training upgrades your body's cardiovascular system. You literally train your system to cool itself down much more efficiently (and warm itself up when needed)—even when you are just relaxing outside.

Here’s the science:

  • You sweat smarter: Getting fitter teaches your body to start sweating sooner to drop your temperature faster, without losing vital electrolytes.

  • Your heart gets a summer boost: Consistent workouts increase your blood plasma volume. This gives your heart a larger fluid reserve, meaning it can easily pump blood to your muscles and your skin to release heat.

  • Your baseline drops: Regular exercisers actually develop a slightly lower resting core body temperature, giving you a bigger safety buffer before you start feeling overheated during the day.
