It’s how you feel that’s important

I’ve been having a good look around this week at all the trends on social media, looking at what people are posting (influencers and ordinary day to day folk) about fitness, weight loss and health and to be honest there is a whole spectrum out there.

You can find posts talking about resets, starting fresh, aiming high your best year yet.

You can find stuff that tells you it’s all nonsense, resolutions don’t work and you’re wasting your time.

And you can find stuff in the middle, telling you that you are perfectly OK as you are.

It can be very confusing, because if you decide you want a mega 2024, and set yourself some big goals, you can get put off if you feel you are constantly seeing things telling you not to bother.

And the other way around too – no one should feel pressured to do stuff they’re not really in to.

So, here’s the most important point.

It’s not whether you are going to set the world alight in 2024, or even if you’re going to set YOUR world alight.

It’s not whether you worked out every day this week or went for a walk or spent the whole week glued to the sofa.

It’s not whether you have a new planner or a mindfulness journal or have subscribed to a meditation app.

What counts, what really, really counts… is how you FEEL about it.

If you WANT to do a workout every day in January, then go for it.

If you regret not coming for a workout this week, then just show up at the next opportunity. If you are sick and tired and of feeling sick and tired, then take action.

If you’re happy right where you are, or are doing all you can with what you have that’s OK too.

If you are motivated by outrageous goals and like BIG change, then why wouldn’t you?
And if you know that a few small changes would make all the difference, then optimise for them today.
No blame, no shame and no regrets – you get to choose, and you get to change your mind too. Don’t be swayed by someone else’s opinion and don't get distracted by the next novelty diet.
Find your reason, and find your tribe.

P.S. No calories were mentioned in this email on purpose - you don't have anything to balance, or make up for, or burn off. If it's done, it's done. Move your body because it feels good and operates better when you do 😉
