Success - it’s probably not what you imagine.
Coach Sall
I learned a long time ago that celebrating success is key in staying motivated. The flip side of that is man, we can be hard to please!
So, this email is to encourage you to think about the small wins – actions taken, moments where you caught yourself and changed your thinking, anytime you made a different decision or pushed hard against previous habits or behaviour.
Or, to put it another way, if someone was telling you that they had done the things you have done this month – would you be celebrating with them? Or would you be saying “yeah but…”
The real lesson here is that success probably different to what you imagine, or what you are led to believe. It’s the things that happen BEFORE the number on the scale /in your bank account/on your Smart® data changes. There’s more to success than the end goal, because if you wait until you achieve your goal, you’re at risk of losing your motivation.
Success is continuing an activity, it’s hanging on in the tough times, it’s showing up, it’s persistence, it’s feelings, it’s changes in behaviour, it’s changes in how you think, it’s catching yourself in a moment and letting yourself acknowledge it rather than look for the reason to throw shade and “take yourself down a peg”.
James Clear says in Atomic Habits; "You need enough persistence to keep working and enough flexibility to enjoy the success when it comes in a different form than you image."
Without question our members who make the most progress, that get the best from their workouts, that get the most workouts and keep coming are the ones that acknowledge their small successes.
They come to their Coaching & Accountability armed with a list of positive actions they took that moved them closer to their goal.
Because without action, nothing happens, and without celebration you lose motivation.
The more you acknowledge your small successes, the more success you will have… your star will shine brightly, and it will keep showing you the way.
Comment below; what successes (even teeny tiny ones, in fact, ESPECIALLY those) can you celebrate this month?
