The messy middle

2025 is half over. I’m not sounding the alarm, I want to make a timely point.
When it comes to the middle, there can be a tendency to feel like we should go one of two ways…
Arrrrrrgggggghhhhh it’s half over I need to get at this with my hair on fire
OR
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh it’s half over I’ll try again next week/month/year
Things can get a bit messy right around the middle, and it can push us to extremes.
(Yes, I know, it’s like I can see you. That’s because I do it too… as you are about to discover.)
It’s the same when you are working towards your goals. There’s a point, part way through where you’re not sure if you’re moving forwards or backwards.
If anyone watched me try to pull all the materials ready for our Coaches’ training day a couple of weeks will remember me saying that I felt like I was half through tidying my bedroom as a teenager.
That point when you’ve actually made a worse mess than it was and would just like to set light to it all (I KNOW you know what I mean!).
Well, the middle is ALWAYS like that. Whether it’s all going swimmingly or not, you will naturally get to THAT point where it gets messy, it feels too hard and you really… REALLY want to tap out.
What’s the answer?
Perseverance.
Whatever you are doing stick with it. Whether we are talking being in the middle of the year or your goal that you set yourself. Push through.
If you’ve made a mess, don’t set light to it!
What you do next will make all the difference to how your year/month/week ends.
